health and human services professional, such a gerontologist,
social worker, counselor, or nurse, with a specialized
body of knowledge and experience related to aging and elder
care issues. A Professional Geriatric Care Manager
(PGCM) is a geriatric care manager who is a member of the
National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers
(GCM) and has committed to adhering to the GCM Pledge
of Ethics and Standards of Practice. The
PGCM assists older adults and persons with disabilities
in attaining their maximum functional potential. The
PGCM strives to respect the autonomy of the individual
and delivers care-coordination and support services with
sensitivity to preserve the dignity and respect of each
individual. In addition, the PGCM is an experienced
guide and resource for families of older adults and others
with chronic needs.

Having
worked in the helping profession for over 20 years, Sundance
Care Specialists is a dream come true for Doug Reuschel.
He feels that helping people is an inner calling. Doug is a
Licensed Bachelor Social Worker, Licensed
Nursing Facility Administrator, Certified Assisted Living Manager
and Professional Geriatric Care Manager. He has worked with
seniors and others in need in a variety of capacities since 1986. It
all began in Illinois where he played the piano and worked at the
home where his great-grandmother lived. He worked in Nursing
Homes and a Retirement Center planning activities for senior adults
throughout college. Doug majored in Sociology/Social Work and
minored in Gerontology. Upon graduation, he moved to San Antonio
where he worked as an Activity Director, Social Worker, Case Manager
and Nursing Home Administrator. His passion for those affected
by Alzheimer’s disease led him to serve on the Board of Directors
for the Alzheimer’s Association for 6 years. He has made
presentations to senior groups, professional groups and facilitated
support groups. Doug is skilled in finding resources and guiding
families towards services for their loved one.
