Doug Reuschel is the owner of Sundance Care Specialists, LLC ā an Aging Life Care Company in Houston, Texas.
Doug has worked with individuals and families since 1986 when he worked at an early model of an Assisted Living Community where his great-grandmother lived. Growing up, he spent a lot of time with his parents and grandparents as they cared for their aging parents and loved ones. At an early age while delivering the local newspaper in his hometown, he began to realize how much he liked helping those in need. He took a special interest in his next-door neighbor Helen after she lost her husband unexpectedly and learned so much helping her even at a young age. He played the piano for anyone who would listen and quickly realized that working with families and seniors was his calling.
He had an extensive career working for long term care companies, but eventually felt the pull back into work that would make a difference for families and seniors rather than focusing on financial goals and managing employees. He worked in a variety of settings including hospital environments, a psychiatric hospital and held a variety of positions in healthcare management.
He managed an early version of a dementia / memory care wing in the early 1990ās and later became Assistant Administrator of one of the largest Nursing Facility and Assisted Living Communities in Texas. His background includes working as a Social Worker, Case Manager, Nursing Facility Administrator, and Assisted Living Manager. He now works as an Advanced Aging Life Careā¢ Professional and is a Care Manager ~ Certified (CMC) through the National Academy of Certified Care Managers. This has been his full-time work since 2005.
His passion for helping people led him to serve on the Board of Directors for the Alzheimerās Association (San Antonio) from 1993-1999. He has a special interest in working with families who are caring for a loved one with Alzheimerās or some type of dementia and has led support groups in this area as well.
He is the past Chair and Co-Chair of the Elder Services Providerās Network at United Way of Greater Houston, past President of the South-Central Chapter of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers which encompasses a 4-state region. He was awarded Outstanding Chapter Member in 2010, 2012 and 2016. He served on the Senior Care Advisors Board and Friends of CanCare Advisory Board.
Doug participated in the 2008 Houston Department of Health and Human Services and Harris County Area Agency on Aging āAging Agenda for Houston ā Harris County.ā He provided expertise in the areas of Access to Quality Care and Housing which was published.
Doug participated in the Houston Caregiving Town Hall Meeting āThou Shalt Honorā on PBS. He has also been a featured contributor regarding senior advocacy on KPRC Channel 2, the NBC affiliate in Houston.
Doug holds or has held membership in the Houston Gerontological Society, American Society on Aging, Aging Life Care Associationā¢ (ALCA), National Care Planning Council, Houstonās Golden Years Orphans, Houston Continuity of Care, West Houston Continuity of Care, Greater Southwest Houston Chamber, Houston Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Fort Bend County Senior Trust SR Alliance.
Doug has been a speaker at Elder Law, Estate Planning, and Guardianship Conferences, is a frequent speaker at local Caregivers Conferences and has made presentations to numerous family groups, professional groups in addition to facilitating support groups.
Having worked with an intergenerational population for many years, Doug is skilled in finding resources, and guiding families towards services. He acts as a personal agent, and advocate to help you navigate your loved oneās care needs.
Rachel Randle is a native Texan and grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. She is bilingual and has worked with people in a variety of capacities her entire life. She has a special gift of relating to and helping people. Before joining Sundance Care Specialists, she worked for nearly a decade as a Case Manager with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. She later held various positions in Long Term Care including as Executive Director of an Assisted Living Community. Rachel is loved by the many clients and families she serves. She is an excellent cook and many clients have received amazing goodies from her over the years. Families often express their extreme gratitude for Rachelās assistance and many comment that she has become part of their family now.
Rachel has a son and daughter along with several grandchildren. She has a special puppy named Bella and in her spare time enjoys cooking and going to Estate Sales.
Lambra grew up in Arkansas and attended Pepperdine University in California where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Sociology. She later obtained her Masters Degree in Gerontology from Kansas State University. Lambra gained a wealth of experience navigating care for her father. This led her to pursue a career in Care Management. Lambra spent over 20 years in public education. Lambra currently serves as Seniors Program Manager for Harris County Precinct One.
In her spare time, Lambra enjoys running marathons and spending time with her husband and two teenagers. Lambra is passionate about helping families know their options and helping develop the best plan of care possible.
Clary Paz is a native Texan although at the age of 12 moved to Oregon on the west coast. She is happy to be back in Houston and is learning to navigate our complicated traffic patterns. Clary is bilingual which is a huge plus. She has a compassionate heart and is an excellent listener. Clary became a sudden caregiver for her sister in recent years due to an unexpected illness. She saw first-hand the issues and challenges that people needing advocacy and care experience. She uses this experience and knowledge to help our clients. Clary is an excellent organizer and keeps things running smoothly in our office. Clary has two adorable dogs named Nox & Oreo and loves spending time with them and taking them to the dog park. She is also touching up her Puerto Rican cooking skills.
